The State of California has prohibited the following practices that are applicable to EVERYONE:
- Irrigating in a way that causes runoff
- Irrigating 48 hours before or after a measurable rain event
- Using a hose without an automatic shutoff nozzle to wash a vehicle
- Using a hose to clean hardscape surfaces
- Fountains that do not recirculate water
- Irrigating ornamental turf on public street medians
- Restaurants serving water to their customers unless the customer requests it
- Hotels and motels must offer their guests the option to not have their linens and towels laundered daily, and prominently display this option in each guest room
- Using potable (drinkable) water to wash sidewalks and driveways
- Irrigation with potable water outside of newly constructed homes and buildings that is not delivered by drip or microspray systems
